1. Turn on Developer options
Open Settings.
Go to Settings, then About phone and tap Build number 7 times. Some HarmonyOS builds say to tap HarmonyOS version if Build number isn't there. You can also search Settings for Software version.
Enter your PIN if asked. Some devices ask you to restart.
Developer options is in Settings, then System & updates, then Developer options, on Huawei and on Honor.
Turn on USB debugging.
You can't turn on Developer options in PrivateSpace, in a second user, or in Digital Balance child mode.

2. Extra switches this brand needs
In Developer options, turn on Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode. On Honor, turn it on if your phone has it.

3. Pair and start
Huawei: no Wireless debugging. Huawei's own support page says the option doesn't exist on its phones and tablets, and these builds are based on Android 10. EMUI 12 is Android 10 underneath, and HarmonyOS 3.1 has no Wireless debugging either.
Use the computer steps, or a second Android phone over an OTG cable. Copy the command from Shizuku's View command: some EMUI and HarmonyOS builds refuse adb access to the old /sdcard/Android start file, and newer Shizuku uses a command that lives outside that folder.
Honor on MagicOS 7 or newer is Android 13 or newer, so the wireless steps work. Some Honor builds hide or disable the pairing screen; an activity launcher app may reach it, otherwise use a computer. On MagicOS 9, use the exact View command line.
HarmonyOS NEXT and HarmonyOS 5: these don't run Android apps at all, so Shizuku can't work there.

4. Keep Shizuku from stopping
Search Settings for App launch. On EMUI it is Battery, then App launch; on MagicOS Apps, then App launch.
Find Shizuku and turn off Manage automatically.
Turn on
Auto-launch, Secondary launch and Run in background.Search Settings for Battery optimization (or Ignore battery optimization). Pick All apps, then Shizuku, then Don't allow. Here that means don't optimize it.
If your phone has
Smart tune-up, turn it off. PowerGenie can close apps that aren't on its allowed list.
Also do the four steps every phone needs: unrestricted battery, Disable adb authorization timeout, No data transfer as the USB default, and leaving debugging on. They are on the Wireless page.

Permission denied on the start.sh file
Some EMUI and HarmonyOS builds, such as EMUI 12 on the Nova 9 SE, refuse adb access to /sdcard/Android. Copy the newer command from View command.

Honor: the pairing screen is missing
Some Honor builds hide it. An activity launcher app may reach it; otherwise use a computer.

Uninstalling restarts the phone (HarmonyOS 3.0)
Seen on an Enjoy 20 Pro. Stop Shizuku and take back every app's permission in Shizuku before you uninstall.

6. Turn it all back off
First, in each app that used Shizuku, undo what it changed, while Shizuku still runs. Some changes an app makes through Shizuku stay after Shizuku stops. Firewall and Fileglow have their own steps.
In Shizuku, switch off every app in the list of authorized apps.
Stop Shizuku with its stop option, or restart the phone.
Open Developer options, then Wireless debugging, then Paired devices, tap the shizuku entry, then Forget.
In Developer options, tap Revoke USB debugging authorizations. This removes every paired computer and device.
Turn off Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode.
Set Shizuku back to Manage automatically in App launch if you like.
On HarmonyOS 3.0, stop Shizuku and switch off every app in its list before you uninstall it.
Turn off Disable adb authorization timeout if you turned it on, and set Default USB configuration back to File transfer if you want.
Turn off Wireless debugging, then USB debugging.
Turn off the switch at the top of Developer options: Settings, then System & updates, then Developer options.
Set Shizuku's battery setting back to the default (Optimized) if you like.
Uninstall Shizuku the normal way if you don't need it any more.
