Shizuku guide

Phones

vivo and iQOO

OriginOS and Funtouch OS. On vivo you tap Software version, not Build number. No official vivo page was found, so menu names come from third party guides.

On this page

1. Turn on Developer options

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Find Software version. Funtouch OS 14 and 15: Settings, then About phone, then Software version. OriginOS 5 and 6: Settings, then About device, then Version, then Software version. Older Funtouch (11 to 13): Settings, then System management, then About phone, then Software version.

  3. Tap Software version 7 times.

  4. Enter your PIN if asked.

  5. Developer options is in Settings, then System management, then Developer options on Funtouch OS. OriginOS uses System or More settings.

  6. Turn on USB debugging.

2. Extra switches this brand needs

None known for Shizuku beyond the keep running steps.

If split screen pairing won't work, turn on Developer options, then Force activities to be resizable.

3. Pair and start

Follow the Wireless debugging steps. On a computer instead? The computer steps.

  • The pairing service is never found (seen on iQOO Neo6): one reporter fixed it after two days by resetting network settings, Settings, then System, then Reset, then Reset Wi-Fi, mobile and Bluetooth. Try it if nothing else works; it forgets saved Wi-Fi networks.

4. Keep Shizuku from stopping

  1. Open Settings, then Apps, then Shizuku, then Battery and choose unrestricted, or Allow background activity.

  2. Open Settings, then Battery, then Background power consumption management (older: High background power consumption) and allow Shizuku.

  3. Open Autostart: Settings, then Apps, then Autostart (or More settings, then Applications, then Autostart) and turn Shizuku on.

  4. Lock Shizuku in Recents.

Also do the four steps every phone needs: unrestricted battery, Disable adb authorization timeout, No data transfer as the USB default, and leaving debugging on. They are on the Wireless page.

5. Known problems on vivo and iQOO

Permission denied for start.sh (iQOO 7, OriginOS 1)

Set the USB mode to charge only. Turn on Force activities to be resizable so split screen pairing works.

OriginOS 4: an app says provider is null

Apps sometimes can't connect to Shizuku. Turn Shizuku and the app off and on again, or take the app's permission back in Shizuku and allow it again.

OriginOS 4 (Android 14) won't start

One advanced workaround: open port 5555 with Termux, then use Shizuku's port based start. Reported by one user.

Pairing code never detected (iQOO Neo6)

Reset network settings. Reported by one user; try it if nothing else works.

6. Turn it all back off

  1. First, in each app that used Shizuku, undo what it changed, while Shizuku still runs. Some changes an app makes through Shizuku stay after Shizuku stops. Firewall and Fileglow have their own steps.

  2. In Shizuku, switch off every app in the list of authorized apps.

  3. Stop Shizuku with its stop option, or restart the phone.

  4. Open Developer options, then Wireless debugging, then Paired devices, tap the shizuku entry, then Forget.

  5. In Developer options, tap Revoke USB debugging authorizations. This removes every paired computer and device.

  6. Turn off Autostart for Shizuku and unlock it in Recents.

  7. On some models Developer options stays listed until you clear the Settings app's storage. That is harmless.

  8. Turn off Disable adb authorization timeout if you turned it on, and set Default USB configuration back to File transfer if you want.

  9. Turn off Wireless debugging, then USB debugging.

  10. Turn off the switch at the top of Developer options: Settings, then System management, then Developer options or where you found it.

  11. Set Shizuku's battery setting back to the default (Optimized) if you like.

  12. Uninstall Shizuku the normal way if you don't need it any more.
